Travelling as a family of five is not as easy as it may seem. The main issues is always “Where will we stay?!” We feel so lucky that we found the perfect Prague family apartment!

Most European hotels can’t accommodate a family of five. You can ask, as there’s times that you hit the jackpot and find an awesome hotel that happens to have an apartment attached. Another option is to get two hotel rooms but that really increases the budget. Or you could search for the perfect apartment for your family. I explore each option when we’re planning a trip and I’ve yet to be disappointed.

Our perfect Prague family apartment was in an apartment building on Rybna U. If you’re wondering where to stay in Prague, you should check it out.

Rybna 9 Apartments is in a wonderful location. It’s less than a 10 minute walk to Old Town Square and less than 5 minutes to Namesti Republiky where you’ll find Albert, a local grocery store.

While Rybna 9 is absolutely an apartment building and not a hotel, the building does have a sign in desk on the main floor where you can ask questions and get directions. The ladies working there were very nice. We were told that the desk is manned 24 hours a day but we didn’t test it out.

The building has an elevator which was wonderful since we were located on the top floor. Despite this, Lucas still ran up the stairs every time to see if he could beat the elevator. He usually did!

Our Prague family apartment was perfect! We stayed in the “Three Bedroom Apartment with Balcony”. We had a wonderful balcony that looked over a nearby church and we could see Our Lady of Tyn church and Old Town Square at a distance.

See the dual towers behind the church? That’s Our Lady of Tyn in Old Town Square. Super close!

The towers of Our Lady of Tyn were beautiful at night!

We could also see St. Vitus Cathedral lit up at night!

There was a small table and a few chairs on the balcony which made it perfect for relaxing, enjoying a glass of wine and writing in our journals.

The apartment has three bedrooms. The master bedroom had a double bed, a large bathroom with shower (minus toilet) and a large closet.

The other two bedrooms were attached. You reach the bedroom with the double bed by walking through the bedroom with two single beds.

It worked great for us and the kids enjoyed being together but in their own beds.

Our Prague family apartment had two other bathrooms: one with a toilet and one with a shower and toilet.  There was plenty of storage and although we didn’t use it, there was a clothes washer.

The kitchen was well set up with plenty of dishes and a dishwasher.

I would recommend that you bring coffee. While there is a regular perk coffee machine, no coffee was provided and we kept forgetting to purchase it at the grocery store.

The kitchen adjoins to the living room area where there is a nice table that can accommodate six, a television and sofa bed.

Our Prague family apartment was very comfortable and cozy. It was also fully air conditioned which, for us, was a necessity since we travelled in July. On the first night we arrived, we did hear people in the street until after midnight but it was just that first night (a Saturday night). Other nights it was very quiet.

Who wouldn’t love this view every evening?!

Overall, we loved our Prague family apartment and we’d absolutely stay there again! If you’d like a few other options to consider, check out this collab post from The Outcast Journey for other nice accommodation options near Prague’s Old Town.

We love staying at apartments when we travel too. Is there a website for this particular apartment that you stayed at?

Hi Astrid. There’s a link to the apartment on booking.com in the title. I guess I should make that clearer 🙂 You can also find it on PragueStays website.

You are absolutely right: most hotels in Europe don’t have rooms for a family of 5, not even really for 4. We don’t have kids, but once a year we visit a major city with our nephew and niece, and it’s always hard to find a place to stay that has 3 double beds (we wouldn’t want them to share a double bed or sleep on a couch…). Now Prague is also on our bucket list, and we’ll probably visit it with them next year. This apartment looks quite cozy and has a wonderful rooftop view, so we might consider staying there. Thanks a lot for your review (and yes, we’ll bring our own coffee! 😉

Wow! You guys are living the life in Prague! Love the marble bathrooms and the beds look so comfy. Spacious accommodations are always important, too, with kids. Have fun!

For a family of five you certainly hit the apartment jackpot in Prague … especially with that view!!! Hard to find aparments with the size, rooms, and views like you had in the classic older cities in Europe to be sure. Fortunately, when we travel, we are only two … much easier. 😉

Hi Michael. It really is so much easier with two! Hopefully when the kids are older John and I will take a few trips on our own 😉

I know to get a stay for 5 is difficult in Europe. And for this, family apartments are the great savior. I loved your stay at Prague, as it big with a kitchen and a balcony with a superb view.

The apartment looks cosy and inviting. I love the decor! Plus the location and views are great. The churches, all lit up, look brilliant against the night sky.

We had read about the view but truly didn’t expect the wonderful view that the apartment had. It was a wonderful surprise!

That sunset photo was stunning. I could see why getting an apartment in Prague would be so handy for a family of five. 250 euros is a small price to pay.

Absolutely! And if we had to get two hotel rooms it would have been so much more 🙂

This apartment definitely looks comfortable and cozy. Also, the views from the balcony are really amazing especially of the towers of Our Lady of Tyn church at night. I’m glad you found the perfect apartment and will bookmark it if I visit Prague with my family/friends. May I ask where did you book this and how much was the cost per night as I don’t think you’ve mentioned it?

Hi Karie. I didn’t include cost because it can change over time. It also depends how many people stay in the apartment, season, etc. If you click on the Rybna 9 Apartment title above, it will bring you to the apartment on Booking.com From there you can find prices for specific dates. You can also book directly with the management company Prague Stay. For our dates in July for a family of five, we paid 250 euros per night.

This looks like a great place to stay. The views are gorgeous and I love how spacious the bathroom is. And so handy that there is a washer too. You definitely need the air conditioning, especially in July!
