You can’t visit Spain without enjoying tapas, especially because Spaniards eat dinner so late at night! We visited Madrid and Barcelona and the tapas were a major highlight of our day.

What I especially appreciated was the wide variety of tapas on offer … so even though my husband and I don’t eat scavengers (like pork and shrimp), we found plenty of great things to eat. I’d never tried eating fava beans on their own before, for instance. We also thought it was a great introduction to Spanish wines. 😉

Spain is on my bucket list for sure and I love exploring with a local. Looks like you got to experience a lot of the local favorites and each dish sounds even more appetizing than the next!

Each dish sounds more amazing than the last. I can’t believe how adventurous your kids were – only one of mine would have been so open to this wonderful experience. I’m glad you mentioned having a guide to open you to new flavors. I wouldn’t have thought of hiring a guide for a tapas tour but it makes sense that they would encourage you to push outside of your comfort zone. I wouldn’t mind trying the zucchini flowers. Great suggestions!

Getting a tour is definitely a great way to find those lesser-known spots to tourists. I love tapas and it’s nice to hear that the prices were reasonable. Some of the food you tried really does sound like you need to be a little adventurous 🙂 I LOOOVE pico de Gallo and guacamole so I definitely would want to go that tapas estabslishement.

We visited Seville many years ago, and also had fantastic food there. It’s true that the best tapas can be tasted at the local mercados. Now reading your blog, we hope that we can visit Seville again soon. And when we do, we’ll certainly consider trying out La Bartola!

Love, love Seville. Such a beautiful city and wandering around at dusk and eating tapas is definitely one of the best travel experiences I’ve had. My other favourite place for tapas is Saint Sebastian in the north. Such a great tradition.
